Boutique Hotel Celebrates Peru’s Past and Contemporary Charm

Arequipa, Peru – January 15, 2009 – Situated in Arequipa, one of Peru’s most beautiful colonial cities, Casa Arequipa, an intimate, art-filled, 10-room boutique hotel, has enhanced its appeal with major renovations and a special Escape to Peru package.

Those who book the Escape to Peru package receive a complimentary night’s stay with a confirmed reservation of five nights. Guests who book four nights will receive a 50% discount off their fourth night. These offers are valid now through February 15, 2009 and prices range from just $65-$99 USD per night.

The hotel’s expansion includes an elegant new rooftop dining-room and three new guestrooms. These tasteful additions complement the hotel’s fusion of Spanish Colonial and indigenous architectural styles.

Illustrating the region’s unique culture, Casa Arequipa’s three new guestrooms include The Sillar Room, replete with authentic Peruvian décor, pottery and other artifacts made from sillar, a gleaming white crushed volcanic ash used in many of Arequipa’s historic buildings. Additionally, guests can immerse themselves in a cozy setting of colorful tapestries and weavings handmade by Peruvian craftsmen in The Weaving Room or evoke the spirit of Arequipa’s history in the spacious layout of The Colonial Room, equipped with wooden furniture crafted by local artisans. Four additional thematic guestrooms are scheduled for completion in 2009.

With panoramic views of the majestic Andes Mountains and spectacular volcanic peaks, the hotel’s new rooftop dining-room offers sumptuous South American cuisine in a tranquil yet visually stimulating environment. Guests will enjoy complimentary breakfast consisting of fresh fruits, juices, Peruvian breads and a variety of warm traditional dishes. At dinner, Peruvian specialties such as ceviche, lomo saltado and rocoto relleno are prepared by the award-winning culinary staff.

Formerly a grand neo-colonial home, Casa Arequipa quickly gained recognition for its innovative South American décor and commitment to first-class service since opening in 2003. The hotel was awarded the Traveler's Choice Award for "Best Hidden Gem" by Trip Advisor in 2006.

Casa Arequipa is a short walk from the Plaza de Armas at the center of Arequipa, one of the United Nations World Heritage Sites.  It is an alluring mix of Old World charm and contemporary service and amenities that will satisfy the most discriminating traveler.

Conveniently located in the southern region of Peru, Casa Arequipa is also considered the perfect place to stay en route to or from spectacular Machu Picchu. Overnight and day-long excursions to Colca Canyon, Peru's answer to the Grand Canyon, are also available upon request. Colca Canyon is home to the mighty Andean Condor.
