Street Teams, Window displays and 100 gifts spread the Philadelphia “LOVE” THIS WINTER

02-03-2009

Place That Loves You Back Showers Lucky Visitors With Free Gifts From Tiffany’s, Le Bec-Fin, Southwest Airlines And Others

PHILADELPHIA, February 2, 2009 – A love-themed “PJ Love Patrol,” festive window displays and an unexpected hotel promotion with free surprise gifts for visitors are spreading Philadelphia’s Love message this winter. It’s all part of the Greater Philadelphia Tourism Marketing Corporation’s (GPTMC) 10-week tourism campaign to promote the popular Philly Overnight® Hotel Package with free hotel parking.

Value-Added Hotel Stays:

This month, the Philly Overnight® Hotel Package reaches an incredible milestone: 100,000 packages sold (that’s 200,000 room nights) and $20 million in hotel revenue. To celebrate, GPTMC and Philadelphia hotels are introducing the “Guest of the Day” component, adding a bit of unexpected fun for lucky guests. Over the next two months, 100 travelers who redeem a Philly Overnight® Hotel Package before March 16 will be named “Philly Guest of the Day.” These randomly chosen visitors will receive valuable prizes, including tickets to Southwest Airlines, attractions and museums; hotel upgrades; and gift certificates for places like Tiffany’s, Le Bec-Fin, Positano Coast, Lagos and others.

PJ Love Patrol:

To spread the news of the “Guest of the Day” hotel promotion, a “PJ Love Patrol” will bring the campaign to the streets. A pajama-clad street team—accompanied by their sidekick “Heart Beat”—will distribute Philadelphia Love quizzes, Love cookies, Love pins and other goodies at popular sites in Philadelphia, New York City, Allentown, Harrisburg and Metropark (New Jersey).

Window Displays:

Buoyant red heart balloons with the Robert Indiana Love logo and romantic black-and-white photos of Philadelphia will fill the community windows of Macy’s Center City for two weeks through February 6 and a kiosk outside of Old City’s Bourse at Independence Mall in February. At both spots, pedestrians will “feel the love” and learn about the Philly Overnight® Hotel Package at gophila.com/love. Visitors passing through the Philadelphia International Airport this winter will also see Love messages on digital screens throughout the terminal.

The Hotel Package:

The Philly Overnight® Hotel Package, which debuted in 2001, is a two-night offer available any night of the week at more than 30 hotels throughout the region. The package includes free hotel parking (up to a $75 value), a new Philadelphia Privileges coupon book and a Philly’s More Fun® teddy bear. The package is bookable online at gophila.com/love.

The Greater Philadelphia Tourism Marketing Corporation (GPTMC) makes Philadelphia and The Countryside® a premier destination through marketing and image building that increases business and promotes the region’s vitality.
