VOYAGES OF DISCOVERY SETS COURSE FOR INDIA, ASIA AND AFRICA

FORT LAUDERDALE (Feb. 9, 2009) -- Destination specialist Voyages of Discovery launched its Winter Voyages 2009/10 program with extensive overland tours and overnight stays and 27 maiden calls in Asia, North and South Africa, Indian Ocean Islands, the Red and Black Seas and the Mediterranean – and a bonus 10% additional savings if booked by April 30.

Available now, the “Discovery World of Cruising” winter voyages 2009/10 brochure features 24 cruisetours and cruise combinations from 12 to 72 nights.  Early Booking Savings of up to 50% are available for bookings made at least 90 days prior to departure.  Cruises offer free or low-cost air from the line’s 25 North American gateways.  As always, special rates for single travelers are available.  The bonus 10% savings is combinable with all offers, including past-passenger savings.

The 26-night “Passage to India” begins Nov. 25, 2009, with flights to Barcelona and a two-night hotel stay before boarding the 650-passenger mv Discovery en route for Mumbai. Calls include Valletta, Malta; Alexandria and Safaga (Luxor), Egypt; Aqaba (Petra), Jordan; Hodeidah, Yemen; and Salalah and Muscat, Oman.  In Mumbai, guests can extend their vacation with an optional three-night Delhi & Agra (Taj Mahal) post-cruise package.  Two-for-1 fares start at $7,765 for the first person and includes the additional 10% Launch Offer discount; the companion pays port taxes of $295; both receive free roundtrip air.

From Mumbai, Discovery sails Dec. 20, 2009, to Singapore, visiting Marmagoa, Cochin and Chennai (formerly Madras), India; Columbo, Sri Lanka; Phuket, Thailand; and Penang and Port Kelang (Kuala Lumpur) Malaysia.  Fares for the 16-night “India and The East” voyage begin at $3,890 and reflects the additional 10% Launch Offer discount. 

The 18-night “Bangkok, Bali & Beyond” cruise departs Singapore Jan. 4, 2010, en route to Bali, Komodo and Semarang, Indonesia; Kuantan, Malaysia; Sihanoukville, Cambodia, and Bangkok, Thailand.  Priced from $3,890 which reflects the additional 10% Launch Offer discount, the program includes a three-night post-cruise hotel stay in Bangkok.

Sailing from Bangkok on Jan. 18, the 13-night “Asian Capitals & Vietnam” voyage takes in Ho Chi Minh City, Nha Trang, Da Nang and Ha Long Bay, Vietnam, before an overnight stay in Hong Kong.  Fares begin at $3,490.  A four-night optional pre-cruise tour of Angkor Wat and Bangkok is available for $1,495 per person.

The Jan. 28 Hong Kong-to-Singapore “Manila, Borneo & Brunei” cruise features three calls in Borneo – Sandakan, Kudat and Kota Kinabalu – as well as Manila and Bandar Seri Begawan in the Sultanate of Brunei.  Fares for the 13-night cruise begin at $3,397.

On Feb. 11, Discovery embarks on a 21-night voyage from Singapore to Port Louis, Mauritius, calling at Malaysia, Sri Lanka, the Maldives and Praslin, La Digue and Mahe, Seychelles. Fares begin at $4,395.

The 16-night “Indian  Ocean & South Africa” cruise, from $3,620, sails from Mauritius Mar. 2 and features Réunion, Madagascar Richards Bay, Durban, Port Elizabeth and Cape Town, South Africa.

Heading north from Cape Town to Mombasa,  Discovery calls at East London, Durban and Richards Bay; Maputo, Mozambique; Nosy Be, Madagascar; Dzaodzi, Mayotte and Zanzibar, Tanzania.   Cruisetours that end and begin in Mombasa include a three-night safari in Tsavo and Amboseli National Parks.   A three-night Maasai Mara Safari optional vacation pre- or post-cruise extension also is available.  Fares for the Mar. 15 “Southern Africa & Kenya” 20-night cruise begin at $4,840.

The Mar. 27 “Africa & Eastern Mediterranean” 32-night cruise from Mombasa to Istanbul itinerary starts at $6,346 per person, reflects the 10% Launch Offer discount and calls at ports in the Seychelles, Yemen, Egypt, Syria and Turkey.

April and May feature cruisetour programs to Russia, Ukraine, Romania, Greece, Malta, Italy, Corsica, Spain, Portugal and Harwich (London).

By combining cruise programs, Voyages of Discovery guests have the opportunity to cruise from 12 to 72 nights. Early Booking Discounts of 20% to 50%, some with Free Air are available. And when booked by April 30, 2009, an additional 10% off the Early Booking Discount is available.
