In 2009 the city of Berlin is celebrating all year long - to join in the
celebrations, the Hotel Adlon Kempinski Berlin is offering a package to
remember
Berlin, February 2009. In 2009, the city of Berlin will be celebrating
the 20th anniversary of the Fall of the Wall. The construction of the
Berlin Wall began on August 13, 1961 - from then on, it was the very
symbol not only of a divided city but also of a divided German nation
and of the Cold War. For nearly three decades the Wall kept people in
East and West Germany separate from each other - when it finally tumbled
down on November 9, 1989. The pictures of the Fall of the Berlin Wall
and the peaceful revolution of the East German people went around the
world and led to the reunification of Germany. To commemorate the events
of the years 1989 and 1990 and to bring into focus the progress that has
been made in the last 20 years, numerous festivities will be taking
place in the German capital this year.
The fate of the Hotel Adlon Kempinski Berlin is ever so closely linked
to Berlin’s recent history. The five-star Hotel is therefore offering
a special package for all those interested in history who want to recall
this eventful night of turbulence and deep emotions in all its historic
dimensions:
The highlight of this package is a special sightseeing tour accompanied
by a personal guide. During the tour, participants will be taken to the
remnants of the Wall as well as to Berlin’s most significant places
and buildings that played a major role in the historical events reaching
their climax on November 9, 1989. The deluxe package includes one
night’s accommodation in a Junior Suite as well as a sumptuous
gourmet breakfast buffet on the next morning. Upon arrival, the guests
will find fresh fruit and mineral water in their room. In the Gourmet
Restaurant Lorenz Adlon, which earned a Michelin-star in 2008 for the
sixth consecutive year, Chef de cuisine Thomas Neeser will serve an
exquisite 5 course dinner to make this an event of sheer culinary bliss.
An evening at the Lorenz Adlon, which gives a breathtaking view of the
brightly illuminated Brandenburg Gate - the symbol of the city of Berlin
and its reunification - will be an everlasting experience.
The price of the overnight package is Euro 835 (approx. USD 1,082),
additional nights and other suite categories can be booked for a
surcharge.
This offer is valid until November 7, 2009. Please note that the
Gourmet Restaurant Lorenz Adlon is closed on Sundays and Mondays and
will be closed during the summer months from July 20 to August 13, 2009.
During this period the 5 course gourmet dinner, matching wines included,
will be served in the Restaurant Quarré. For reservations please call
