These results are based on our reader survey, and Get Out! readers are the very people who live and play in the Ohio Valley,? said editor Mary Reed, ?You can take these results to the bank ? better yet, take them to the trailhead.?
Melissa McMasters, online and community advocacy manager for the Pittsburgh Parks Conservancy, said she thinks people respond to Frick Park so well because there are so many opportunities for adventure, including hiking, mountain biking, bird watching and cross-country skiing.
Frick Park borders so many neighborhoods in Pittsburgh and attracts visitors from all across the city. I think people love the fact that they can come to Frick Park and forget all about city life and really experience nature without going very far from home,? McMasters said.
Get Out! magazine's coverage region includes western Pennsylvania, Ohio, West Virginia, Kentucky and Indiana as well as portions of Maryland and Illinois. Activities covered include hiking, cycling, paddling, snow sports and other active outdoor pursuits.
