Traveling single doesn't mean you'll be solo...group tours in Europe

Walking with Breakaway Adventures

Our guided walking tours in Europe are perfect for people traveling alone who want to walk in a small group - typically 6-10 people - with like-minded people.  We think traveling single can be a very rewarding experience and are pleased to offer special tour dates with no single supplement for Spring/Summer/Fall 2009.

Here is rundown on the options (dates with no single supplement are highlighted):

Breakaway's long-time favorite, Valleys & Volcanoes Walk (Sep 20), is based in Les Estables, the highest village in the Auvergne region of France.   Our walking route is like taking a journey back in time as we trace the heritage and traditions of this remote corner of France.  Good French home cooking too!

Lakes & Mountains Walk (Sep 6) explores the dramatic ever changing landscapes of the towering Dolomites, Alps and Lake Garda in Italy.   This “3 boot” or challenging hike offers fantastic mountain wildlife  - chamois, red deer, golden eagles - and meadows vivid with alpine poppies and wild cumin.

First trip to Italy?  The Highlights of Tuscany Walk (Jul 15) offers gentle walking and relaxed sightseeing in the wonderful art cities of Florence, Siena, Lucca and San Gimignano.  Perfect choice as an introduction to the very best of Tuscany.

The twin-center walking holiday, Secrets of Southern Italy Walk  (May 13), starts in the quaint village of Terranova.  With it’s cobbled streets and charming little shops, it’s how Italy must have been 50 years ago.  We follow mountain paths through birch and silver fir forests through the Pollino National Park and on to the unspoiled coastline at Maratea.  Dinner each night is a feast of Southern Italian cuisine - good thing you’ll be walking off the calories!

The Heart of Sardinia Walk (Sep 5) explores Sardinia’s heart, taking you from the wild, beautiful Barbagia region down to the stunning coastline of the Gulf of Orosei.  You’ll stay in excellent 4**** hotels throughout featuring great regional cuisine.

Stay in a wonderfully restored 200-year old olive mill with swimming pool on the Secrets of Andalucia Walk (Mar 14, 21, Nov 7).  Stunning white villages scattered over the heart of the southern Andalucian countryside and a visit to Granada’s beautiful Alhambra Palace make this trip an absolute delight.

Heart of Portugal Walk (May 23, Jun 20, Jul 11) is spent in the wonderfully peaceful and completely charming 4**** Convento de Belmonte.  Outstanding and wholly unspoiled walking follows the line of traditional farming communities strung out along the magnificent glacial valley, in the shadow of Portugal’s highest mountain, the Torre.

Norway’s climate is ideal for summer walking with an extraordinary profusion of rare wild flowers and lots of bird-spotting opportunities – falcons, hawks & grouse.  Walking in Reindeer Country (Jul 11) offers super value with hearty breakfasts, picnic lunches and evening meals featuring magnificent and copious Scandinavian buffets.

As places are limited, early booking is strongly advised especially if you’ll be looking for peak travel dates.  So don’t risk missing out.  Call us on 1-800-567-6286 or email us at: info@breakaway-adventures.com
