WHISTLER BLACKCOMB TO LAUNCH VIDEO PODCASTS

11-14-2007

November 13, 2007 - Whistler Blackcomb is boosting its web content by launching a series of video podcasts that will hit the web Thursday, November 15.

Tune in to the Whistler Blackcomb Snowcast, presented by TELUS, to watch some of the hottest athletes hit the slopes, find out about key events, and see what it takes to make Whistler Blackcomb run smoothly.

“We’re very excited to release this new web content,” says Michelle Leroux, Public Relations and Communications Manager for Whistler Blackcomb. “Some of these episodes will tell the stories of departments that are rarely in the spotlight, such as our groomers, who groom more terrain than any other resort in North America. The stories are crafted to get people stoked and show them all that our mountains have to offer.”

The podcast team is comprised of videographer/editor Kevin Hodder and host Meredith Rozbitsky, both of whom have extensive TV backgrounds. Hodder has worked with the Discovery Channel, and high profile TV shows, including several seasons of the hit reality show, Survivor and the televised adventure race, Eco Challenge. Rozbitsky also has a TV background, having worked on shows, such as the Amazing Race, Survivor, and Hell’s Kitchen 2.

The podcasts will be uploaded every second Thursday. Catch Episode 1, this Thursday, November 15 to find out how mountain operations crews are preparing Whistler Blackcomb for opening day. Whistler Blackcomb received more than 80cm of snow over the weekend, bumping the base up to 108cm. Official opening day is scheduled for Thursday, November 22, but with the weather forecast predicting more snow later this week, a possible early opening could be announced as early as Wednesday, November 14.

With over 17 alpine bowls, four glaciers, 200 trails, 8,171 acres of skiable terrain and a one mile vertical rise, the choices of where and what to ski/ride at Whistler Blackcomb from beginner to advanced terrain are staggering.
