05-08-2009

San Jose, Costa Rica, May 7, 2009 – With the rain the rainforest comes alive as Costa Rica's shoulder season officially kicks off this month and runs until the end of October.  And travellers looking for greater value and cooler temperatures can take advantage of rates up to 25 per cent off, free nights, complimentary domestic flights and free stays and meals for kids if they reserve at Finca Rosa Blanca Coffee Plantation & Inn, Lapa Rios Rainforest Ecolodge and Arenas Del Mar Beach and Nature Resort by June 30, 2009.

Known as the "green season” due to an increase in precipitation and return of the country's signature rich green growth, guests who travel to Costa Rica from May  - October  can  expect showers during the day, reduced prices, fewer crowds while the cloud- forested slopes of the mountains are getting greener, and  sunny days are still a regular occurrence.

A destination all its own, just outside Costa Rica's capital city of San Jose, Finca Rosa Blanca Coffee Plantation & Inn ( www.fincarosablanca.com)  has been named one of the world's top plantation resorts by the UK's Guardian newspaper and has won numerous awards and accolades for its commitment to sustainable tourism.   With rates starting at US$235.00, based on double occupancy and including breakfast, guests who book two consecutive nights will receive 25 per cent off their room rate and a complimentary tour and tasting for two of the Inn's organic coffee plantation, a value of US$50.00.  If they book three nights, they will receive a complimentary fourth night and a complimentary coffee tour.

Sister sustainable and award winning resorts, Arenas Del Mar (www.arenasdelmar.com), and Lapa Rios Rainforest Ecolodge ( www.laparios.com) are making it even easier for guests to travel by taking care of their flights from San Jose  on Nature Air, the world's first carbon neutral airline, if they book four consecutive nights at  Lapa Rios and five nights in a superior room or four nights in an Ocean Breeze Suite at Arenas Del Mar, 30 days prior to their arrival.   A four night stay at both resorts will also provide guests with a fifth complimentary night and a free tour of Manuel Antonio National Park for two if staying at Arenas Del Mar, a value of US$100.00.  Three nights at both resorts will qualify guests for 25 per cent off.  Rates at Arenas Del Mar start at US$220.00 and include breakfast, while Lapa Rios has rates starting at US$245.00 and include three meals at day.

And for families travelling during July and August, children ages 11 and under stay and eat for free at all three resorts when sharing a room with adults.

Green season activities include day and night time tours of the rainforest which comes alive with the increase in precipitation, garden tours, bird watching, kayaking, horseback riding, hiking, sailing, surfing, white water rafting and each resort also offers a special sustainability tour where guests can discover first hand how the resorts adhere to the quadruple bottom line of "people, planet, profit and place” while meeting the highest "green leaf” certification by Costa Rica Tourism.
