06-03-2009

-Saturday, July 18, 2009-

ARUBA, June 3, 2009 – Radisson Aruba Resort, Casino & Spa, a landmark property and a Radisson flagship resort that has been attracting Aruba enthusiasts for a half-century, is partnering with the Aruba Tourism Authority and the Aruba Hotel & Tourism Association for an anniversary gala celebrating 50 years of hospitality.  Taking place the evening of Saturday, July 18, 2009, the hospitality celebration gala will showcase a historical exhibition to include photography and mementos.  Guests will be treated to a gourmet dinner featuring a selection of retro menu offerings, dancing and live entertainment.  Tickets cost $90 per person.  To make event reservations, please contact the hotel’s concierge at 011-297-586-6555.

“During the past 50 years, Radisson Aruba has hosted countless weddings, honeymoons, special events, celebrities, corporate meetings and incentives, family vacations and romantic interludes,” states Gary Jutz, general manager.  “We look forward to rolling out the red carpet to showcase how the resort helped put Aruba on the map from a tourism perspective, while, at the same time, served as a beautiful backdrop for creating lifelong memories over multiple generations.”

Designed by Morris Lapidus, the iconic American architect who was the mastermind behind the Fontainebleau Hotel and Eden Rock on Miami Beach, the Radisson Aruba Resort, Casino & Spa opened the summer of 1959 as the Aruba Caribbean Hotel.  It was the first luxury, high-rise resort in the destination, offering 120 rooms and a casino.  Harry Belafonte, Elizabeth Taylor, Eddie Fischer and Roger Moore frequented the resort.

Today, Radisson Aruba Resort, Casino & Spa is still considered the island’s “Grand Dame,” and with its comprehensive renovations, award-winning dining and luxurious new full-service spa, is consistently recognized for its standard of excellence and dedicated staff, achieving the distinguished American Automobile Association (AAA) Four Diamond Award for six consecutive years. Its signature restaurant – Sunset Grille – featuring an “exhibition-style” kitchen and terrace views – also receives the Four Diamond Award.  The resort’s oceanfront Larimar Spa, known for treatments incorporating indigenous island ingredients, is the most comprehensive in Aruba and a favorite of spa connoisseurs.
