06-12-2009

UNVEILS SAFARI ADVENTURES ANIMAL PARK AND OFFERS TRAVELERS MORE FOR THEIR MONEY

SANDUSKY, Ohio (June 11, 2009) – Kalahari Resort in Sandusky, OH teamed with renowned animal expert and director emeritus of the Columbus Zoo, Jack Hanna, to unveil its Safari Adventures animal park. Safari Adventures, which is open to resort guests and travelers on day trips, offers educational and interactive meetings with giraffe, zebra, ostrich and more.

Bringing to life the African animals seen in photos, murals, and other artwork around Kalahari, Safari Adventures offers guests a memorable opportunity to interact with the animals. In addition to taking pony and camel rides, guests can feed the animals and pose alongside them for keepsake photos.

“These animals are ambassadors for their brothers and sisters in the wild and offer an amazing opportunity for people in the Midwest to experience African wildlife in a unique and interactive way,” says Jack Hanna who is known for his many endeavors with wild animals including appearances on the Late Show with David Letterman.

Kalahari’s commitment to offering an authentic African experience to its guests began with a trip Todd Nelson, president and owner of Kalahari Resorts, took to Africa in 1998 in which he discovered the cultural offerings and distinctive wildlife the continent had to offer. Since then, Nelson and his team have traveled to Africa each year to handpick artwork, décor and furnishings.

“More people are taking drive-to getaways this summer and we’re taking our under-one-roof concept one step further to offer guests an affordable, onsite experience they won’t find anywhere else,” says Nelson.

Safari Adventures is open daily from 10 a.m. until 7 p.m. All day admission for resort guest is $3 and for non-resort guests admission is $5. Visit www.kalahariresorts.com for details, packages and specials.
