The National Parks of New York Harbor Conservancy and New York Waterways

06-12-2009

National Parks of NY Harbor Conservancy

National Parks of New York Harbor Conservancy is celebrating its new partnership with the New York Waterway Tours as they launch a series of new boat tours that focus on many aspects of New York history and culture.  Topics include the Gateway to America, the founding of New Amsterdam, New York as a military front line, and New York Harbor as a key portal for American immigration. Reporters will also learn about plans to create the finest urban waterfront park transportation system in the world, and its role in supporting economic development and tourism for the city.

WHO:
Reporters will have access to the co-founders of the National Parks of New York Harbor Conservancy, Marie Salerno and Miriam Heiskell and leadership from New York Waterways as well as National Park Service Rangers and Harbor Conservancy board members -- who are available to answer questions about this summer's myriad of free and affordable "daycations" and vision for the future.

WHEN:
June 16, 10:30 AM - 12:15 PM, Champagne reception.

WHERE:
Embark from Battery Park Marine Building, Slip 5.

WHY:
There are 22 national parks and unique destinations on the Harbor that the Conservancy is working to make accessible recreational attractions for New Yorkers and tourists alike.  Working with the National Park Service, the Harbor Conservancy promises that the National Park Rangers will be as visible in the canyons of lower Manhattan, as they are on the trails of Yellowstone.
