ALOFT WASHINGTON NATIONAL HARBOR

06-15-2009

YOU DON’T HAVE TO SPEND BIG TO STAY IN STYLE IN THE NATION’S CAPITAL

Special - Maryland Hotels

National Harbor, MD– June 8, 2009:  Now that Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide, Inc.® (NYSE:HOT) has debuted its hip new lifestyle brand, Aloftsm hotels, at National Harbor, budget-conscious business and leisure travelers have discovered they don’t need to sacrifice cutting-edge style or tech-savvy touches to stretch their travel dollars in the Nation’s Capital.

All they need to do is make reservations at the just-opened Aloft Washington National Harbor, where introductory summer/fall 2009 weekend and weekday rates start at just $129 and $139, respectively.

One of the hotel centerpieces of the National Harbor waterfront community taking shape outside Washington, D.C., the distinctive 190-room property is also reaching out to the growing number of families looking to book a historic Washington, D.C., trip this summer without breaking their recession-impacted vacation budgets.

In addition to one of the city’s best rates at a new hotel, the Aloft Washington National Harbor features a version of Starwood’s Camp Aloft for Kidssm program tailored to families visiting the Nation’s Capital.

“While the Aloft Washington National Harbor has been designed for tech-savvy business and leisure travelers wanting a new twist in Washington, D.C., hotels, our commitment also extends to families and other travelers looking for affordable vacation options,” explained Nichole Benolken, general manager.  “From our customized Camp Aloft for Kids program to the fun and games in our re:mixsm lounge, we’re the perfect destination for weekend family getaways – and especially busy executives looking to extend their stay with a little post-business family holiday.”

A partnership between Starwood and NH-K Hotel, LLC, an investment group led by The Peterson Companies of Fairfax, Va., the Aloft Washington National Harbor opened in  April 2009 with 190 loft-like rooms, tech-savvy touches, a hip, social atmosphere and the celebrity-infused Ketchup gourmet grill restaurant.  The property occupies a prime location overlooking the central plaza at National Harbor, a dynamic, 300-acre waterfront community in Prince George’s County, Md., featuring premium office space, upscale retail, fine restaurants, stylish condominiums and world-class entertainment.

Situated on the Potomac River across from Alexandria, Va., and 10 minutes outside of Washington, D.C., National Harbor will includes a public marina, water taxis to and from both cities, and the Gaylord National Resort and Convention Center and three other hotels.  Kokua Hospitality, LLC, of San Francisco, a property management affiliate of The Chartres Lodging Group, LLC, which is part of NH-K Hotel, LLC, manages the completed property.

The hotel’s Camp Aloft for Kidssm program seeks to promote family fun and parental peace of mind for families with kids ages 2 to 12.  Highlights include a special goodie bag at check-in, “kid-sized” air mattresses and special bedding, and kid-friendly (and parent-approved) snack and meal options at the hotel’s re:fuel by Aloftsm pantry.   Families of all ages can enjoy the hotel’s Splashsm indoor pool and the pool table and other games in the re:mixsm communal lobby area.
