Comedy Soars to New Heights on Friday "Knights"!

07-30-2009

Friday Knights at the Improv comedy troupe freezes the action.

After a stressful work week, dust off your funny bone with riotous laughter at Mount Hope Estate & Winery's "Friday Knights at the Improv," opening August 14. Hilarity will ensue as the knights, pirates, wenches and royalty of the Pennsylvania Renaissance Faire step out of their 16th century characters for five consecutive Friday nights of wild and crazy improvisational comedy. You'll laugh, you'll cry, you may even become part of the show.

Much like the show, "Whose Line Is It Anyway?", Friday Knights at the Improv will feature various improvisational games, such as Props, Scenes from a Hat and the Dating Game. These games will challenge the actors to think fast on their feet in order to create wacky scenes, sharp-witted oneliners, catchy songs and slapstick comedy right before your eyes.

Throughout the evening, the audience will be called upon to join in the action shouting out the most ridiculous suggestions they can think of. This interactive element adds another element of surprise to make the performance even more side-splitting as the actors never know what suggestions they are going to get. A few lucky individuals may even get the chance to join the cast on stage and help out with a game or musical number.

After each game, audience members will award the actors points. At the end of the show, these points will be tallied up to determine which actor stole the show. The two-act show's fierce comedic competition and wild wit is sure to have everyone rolling in the aisles.

Before the laughter begins, or to help calm the giggles during intermission, guests will find soft drinks, Mount Hope wines and Swashbuckler brews available for purchase. Complimentary hors d'oeuvres will be available as well. Patrons are invited to stop by the Carriage Wine Shop before the show, where they will be able to sample all of Mount Hope's wines.

Friday Knights at the Improv is scheduled for August 14, 21, 28, September 4 and September 11. The doors will open at 6:30 p.m. and the performance will begin at 7 p.m. Admission is $20. Because of the nature of the performance, patrons under the age of 18 are not encouraged to attend. Reservations are suggested for the limited Mount Hope Mansion seating and can be made by visiting the Virtual Box Office for advance click-to-print tickets at www.PaRenFaire.com.

Mount Hope Estate & Winery, where the 29th season of jousting knights and royal delights of the PA Renaissance Faire continues weekends through October 25, is located on Route 72, ½ mile South of exit 266 of the PA Turnpike, 15 miles North of Lancaster and 14 miles East of Hershey.
