Chattanooga, TN – Back for the fifteenth year and bringing with it over 25 of the Southeast’s most notable microbreweries is the annual Southern Brewers Festival, presented by Big River Grille & Brewing Works. On Saturday, August 22, 2009 from 2PM until midnight, Ross’s Landing in downtown Chattanooga will be transformed into a beer-lover’s dream as over 58 premium ales and lagers will be featured along Riverfront Parkway. In addition to the vast selection of beers, a variety of food vendors will also be on hand to keep patrons satisfied throughout the event. Local establishments including Big River Grille & Brewing Works and Kenny’s Smokehouse will feature signature festival-fare including burgers, brats, hot dogs and barbeque, while others such as Yes ‘N Deed, Miller Concessions, and Gene Garden’s Philly Cheese Steak’s offer visitors everything from Cajun dishes and lemonade to Philly-style cheese steaks, fries, and more.

Entertainment will also be a big draw for this year’s festival. Round 1 of the Krystal Square Off World Eating Championship will again be hosted at the event, kicking off shortly after the official start of the festival, followed by several popular acts including Blues Hammer, Ralph Roddenbery, and Beth Hart. The featured headliner for the event is none other than Trombone Shorty & Orleans Avenue, the New Orleans-originated artist famed for delivering a high-energy funk rock show capable of mesmerizing international rock stars. Carrying such accolades as Best R&B / Funk Band (two years in a row), Best Trumpet, and Performer of the Year, Trombone Shorty will have the crowd on their feet and dancing well into the late hours of the event.

Tickets for the 15TH Annual Southern Brewers Festival will be sold at the gate for $15.00 per person, and include a commemorative mug and one token towards the purchase of the first beer. Tickets may be purchased in advance for $13 online at www.southernbrewersfestival.com, at Big River Grille and Brewing Works (downtown Chattanooga & Hamilton Place locations only), or by calling 423-757-5259 from now through August 15th. In addition to the discounted price, advance ticket purchasers will also enjoy the convenience of bypassing the entrance line at the ticket sales booth.

This year’s festival will again host the popular “Party on the Pier”. Tickets for the “Party on the Pier” must be purchased in advance and are now available online for $75/individual and $125/couple. This premier addition to the event includes private access to the pier, a commemorative mug, one token, complimentary food and beer provided by Big River Grille & Brewing Works and preferred seating for viewing the entertainment happening on-stage.

All proceeds from the 15th Annual Southern Brewer’s Festival will benefit Chattanooga's Kids on the Block, winner of the BBB 2008 Torch Award for Workplace Ethics.  For the past 29 years, CKOB has featured life size puppets designed to teach children and adults about social concerns and differences in a non-threatening manner, giving them skills to stay safe and healthy.  The programs are free of charge to schools in twelve counties in Tennessee and North Georgia thanks to funding from United Way, Tennessee Department of Children’s Services, Unum, Mental Heath Association of Middle Tennessee, Chattanooga-Hamilton County Medical Society Alliance, Chattanooga Area Brain Injury Association, Tennessee Donor Services, individual donors and fundraising events such as Southern Brewers Festival.
