The Wilds Offering Two Photo Safari Camp Weekends This Fall

09-08-2009

CUMBERLAND, Ohio (Sept. 8, 2009) – The Wilds, one of the largest conservation centers in the world, is offering two weekends of Wilds Photo Safari Camps this fall.

These special overnight weekend programs, scheduled for Sept. 25-27 and Oct. 2-4, are designed for photography enthusiasts and professional photographers alike.

Head out on safari in search of Asian rhinos, African antelope, soaring raptors and spectacular scenery -- without ever leaving Ohio. At a pace that allows ample time to explore the decisive visual moments, you'll learn photo techniques from expert photographers and build your portfolio of stunning flora, sweeping landscapes, and beautiful native and non-native wildlife during this exclusive opportunity.

The weekend camps are facilitated by Jerry Jividen and Barbara Jividen of Naturally Wild Photo Adventures.

The weekend program includes tours exploring parts of the Wilds’ 10,000 acres for opportunities to photograph native species like raptors, butterflies, and other wildlife in prairie, wetland, and forest habitats, some scheduled at daybreak for the best light.

Of course, pasture tours with plenty of time and opportunities to photograph non-native wildlife like giraffes, oryx and other rare and endangered species at the Wilds are part of the weekend activities. A special program will take place at the Mid-Sized Carnivore Conservation Center with extended time with cheetahs, African wild dogs and dholes.

This camp is designed for those age 18 years and older. Space is limited and reservations and pre-payment are required. Registration fee is $299 per person and includes meals, tours, instructional programming and overnight accommodations at the Wilds’ conservation education camp.

Registration deadline is two weeks prior to the first day of camp. Call 740-638-5030 x2286 to register.
