This October, two of the world's most exclusive sporting events will come together in Mexico's premier upscale resort destination. From October 10-14, 2009 the Puerto Los Cabos World Cup will take place at the new Puerto Los Cabos development in San Jose del Cabo, Baja California Sur. The weeklong series of events will include a celebrity Pro-Am golf tournament and a 3-day IGT (International Game Fishing) tournament, with an awards banquet and open-air concert bringing the festivities to a close.
Presented by IGT, the Puerto Los Cabos World Cup kicks off with a Pro-Am Golf Tournament featuring players from the PGA & LGA, professional athletes, and celebrities. Lorena Ochoa, the Mexican-born LGA golfer who is currently ranked number one in the world, is scheduled to participate. The tournament will take place on the new Puerto Los Cabos championship golf course, designed by golf legends Jack Nicklaus and Greg Norman.
The three-day Puerto Los Cabos World Cup saltwater sport-fishing tournament will begin on October 11, 2009 and will consist of the largest cash prize of any event in the IGT Mexico Tournament Series. This year's dual start locations will be a first in the region, with participating boats starting from either Puerto Los Cabos Marina in San Jose del Cabo or Cabo San Lucas Marina. Over 125 teams are projected to compete in the 50-mile area to win over three million dollars in cash prizes. Final deadline to enter is October 10, 2009.
