  • Judy Krup – On Top of the World (January 6-12, 2008)

The retreat will cover six nights of accommodation and five hours of daily instruction in the uniquely peaceful Himalayan kingdom of Bhutan.  Instruction will include morning sessions for active asana practice and afternoons for inversions and more restorative poses.  Working on precise alignment, the retreat will increase strength and flexibility, lengthen the body, open up the mind and create a general sense of calm and well-being.  It is suitable for all levels, and each student will be encouraged to move beyond perceived limitations.  Retreat guests also will be able to experience a traditional hot stone bath followed by a COMO Shambhala massage and will be encouraged to try some of the Ayurvedic treatments.  The retreat program will extend beyond the yoga pavilions and include exploration of the local scenery, monasteries, and valleys with an English-speaking Uma Paro guide on four of the retreat days.  These excursions will include a visit to Bhutan’s oldest monastery, 8th century Kichu Lakhang, pilgrimage to Bhutan’s most sacred site, Taksang monastery (Tiger’s Nest), a lunch at a Traditional Bhutanese Farmhouse, and a picnic at a ruined fortress at the end of Paro Valley with views of Bhutan’s highest mountain, Mt Jomolhari 7,314 m (on a clear day).   • Maya Fiennes – The Seven Chakras Through Kundalini (January 8-13, 2008)

This five-day retreat with the directors of Yoga Shanti Yoga Center in Sag Harbor, NY, will take a deeper look at the transformative effects of a combined Yoga asana, pranayama, and meditation practice.  Five hours of daily instruction will combine challenging Vinyasa-style Yoga with a deep understanding of alignment and the benefits of restorative asanas.
