WATERMARK BEACH RESORT IN OSOYOOS SET TO OPEN OCTOBER 1, 2009
Best described as subtle Spanish Mission influence with colours and materials reflective of the Okanagan setting, Watermark Beach Resort is conveniently situated on 1,000 feet of sandy beach in the heart of pedestrian-friendly Osoyoos. Designed by renowned lead architect Mike Huggins from Burrowes Huggins Architects and Coordinated Hotel Interiors Limited (CHIL), the shared vision was to create a beach resort experience that borrowed from the surrounding natural landscape to create a fluid transition from the exterior to the interior.
The four-story, 153 suite Watermark Beach Resort will consist of a main building and 30 beachfront townhomes. Each of the penthouses, studio, one, two and three-bedroom suites will offer all the comforts and conveniences of home including fully equipped kitchens with stainless steel appliances, deep soaking tubs, flat-screen televisions in the master bedrooms and living areas, and private balconies with breathtaking views of the lake or desert landscape. The hotel’s complement of amenities will include a spa, fitness facility, steam room, hot tubs, seasonal pool with waterslide, wine bar and wine bar patio with a summer kitchen. Slated for spring of 2010, the resort will also boast a café/bistro, upscale restaurant featuring wine country cuisine, and a marina. Meeting planners will be delighted in the 3000 square feet of meeting space able to accommodate up to 220 for conferences, celebrations or special events.
Located 396 kilometres (246 miles) from Vancouver or 457 kilometers (284 miles) from Seattle and accessible via either Kelowna International Airport or Penticton Airport, Osoyoos boasts Canada’s driest climate with the lowest rainfall and highest temperatures in the country. Best known for the multitude of wineries and orchards that dot the region, Osoyoos also offers a wide range of activities from fishing, horseback riding and water sports to golf, cultural experiences, hiking and fine dining.
