Enable Resorts to Open New Lifts and Terrain
Consistent Winter Snowstorms Expected Through Year's End in Lake Tahoe; Incredible Holiday Ski Vacation Packages and Ski Deals Lead the Nation
Lake Tahoe, CA & NV (Dec. 9, 2009) - Travelers looking for the best holiday winter skiing and snowboarding conditions should look no further than the slopes of the seven Ski Lake Tahoe resorts that received more than three feet of light, dry powder earlier this week from a cold Sierra winter storm. An approaching cycle of powerful winter storm systems continue the El Niņo weather scenario that is bringing higher than average snowfall this season. Meteorologists are calling for additional accumulations of up to several feet this weekend with a continuing chance of snow in the forecast almost every day leading up to the Christmas holiday.

These storm systems have allowed the resorts to open additional lifts and terrain including top-to-bottom skiing around the lake. Alpine Meadows plans to open additional terrain as soon as conditions permit including a new terrain park layout that encompasses the entire mountain. With the Nevada side already in full swing, Heavenly Mountain Resort aims to open the California side of the mountain this Friday with its early season supplemental snowmaking efforts and offseason trail enhancements now paying huge dividends. Mt. Rose-Ski Tahoe has been turning lifts since Halloween and the recent snowfall has allowed the resort to open its upper mountain via its Northwest Magnum Detachable Sixpack lift.
