~Musical Selections Reflect Hotel’s 85-year History~
PARIS, December 9, 2009 – The renowned Hôtel Le Bristol in Paris wrote another chapter in its 85-year history when it debuted a new seven-story wing featuring 26 luxurious rooms and a new restaurant, 114 Faubourg, this year. To commemorate its new wing, Hôtel Le Bristol has released a music compilation, taking guests down memory lane, with each song reflecting a key point in the hotel’s history. The 15-track CD is exclusively on sale at Hôtel Le Bristol Paris for €20 (approximately US $30) just in time for the holidays.
The musical journey begins in 1925, when the hotel made its debut, with Teddy Wilson and his iconic ‘Tea for Two,’ followed by Josephine Baker and 1930’s classic love song ‘Bonsoir My Love.’ During this period the hotel completed its first extension by then owner, Hippolyte Jammet.
Epitomizing jazz in the 1940s is ‘Body & Soul’ by Coleman Hawkins, followed by the song which found popularity across the world during the end of World War II: ‘C’est si bon.’
‘The Palme d’Or,’ song of the 1962 Cannes Film Festival, and ‘Un home et une femme,’ by Francis Lai, evoke the swinging 60s while 1978’s unforgettable track, ‘Why Did You Do It,’ by British group Stretch, coincides with the year that Rudolph Oetker, founder of the German Oetker group, acquired Hôtel Le Bristol.
To evoke the turn of the millennium, the compilation incorporates current artists Benjamin Biolay, Zero 7, Keren Ann and Nicolas Errera, composer of the emblematic Hôtel Le Bristol track, ‘La Grande Ourse,’ that can be heard throughout the hotel and on its web site.
The creation of the long-awaited CD was a collaborative effort between Alexandre Sauty de Chalon, Jerome Maitre at Time 4 Play agency and the team at Hôtel Le Bristol.
