Maryland Tourism Releases Charms of the Chesapeake

The Official Maryland Guide for Visitors to the Chesapeake Bay Region

BALTIMORE (February 1, 2010) – Maryland is home to the largest and arguably most notable estuary in the nation, the Chesapeake Bay. The Maryland Office of Tourism's newest publication, Charms of the Chesapeake, gives readers insight into the Bay's coastal communities, details on the State's 23 lighthouses, and trip suggestions for seeing the Bay by water.

"The Chesapeake Bay is a national treasure, and I invite everyone to enjoy its many waterfront towns, public park sites, spectacular lighthouses, and the fairs and festivals that are unique to Maryland," said Governor Martin O'Malley. "We hope that Charms of the Chesapeake will encourage our millions of visitors each year to experience the beauty of the Bay and join in our efforts to preserve this unique environment so that it can be enjoyed for generations to come."

"Maryland and the Chesapeake Bay are truly unique and have a certain mystique to travelers," said Margot A. Amelia, director of the Maryland Office of Tourism. "Visitors will be treated to beautiful scenery, charming cities and towns, and, of course, great seafood."
