My Exclusive Journeys Reminds Travelers: Most Chile Travel Attractions Were Not Affected by the Earthquake
Miami, FL, March 15, 2010—Though Chile suffered a massive earthquake two weeks ago, most of the country’s sites of interest to travelers were not affected.
My Exclusive Journeys, the tour operator offering affordable luxury trips to Central and South America, reminds travelers that Patagonia and Torres del Paine in the southernmost part of Chile; the southern part of the Lakes and Volcanoes region; the Atacama Desert region in the north of the country; and Easter Island, 2,300 miles from the Pacific coast, have reported no damage at all from the quake.
Electricity, communications, transportation, government services and hotels are operating normally in the capital, Santiago, and the Santiago airport, which suffered some structural damage to its terminal, is functioning again. The cities nearest the epicenter—Concepcion, Talcahuano and Temuco—were most affected, and some damage has been reported in the wine country.
Chile’s tourism infrastructure fared well, due to the country’s strict building codes and general preparedness, and most travelers will not be aware of the quake’s after-effects.
All My Exclusive Journeys’ programs to the destination are operating normally.
In order to help the victims of the earthquake, My Exclusive Journeys’ CEO, Jaime Alvarez, urges North Americans to donate to the Chilean Red Cross, Cruz Roja Chilena. He also promises to donate $100 for each MEJ booking to Chile through the end of 2010.
