Once a month the Kansas Travel & Tourism Division distributes this brief newsletter, providing tourism updates from throughout the state of Kansas.  Highlights include a title, brief descriptor and a link for more details.   Not all highlights will be of interest to everyone.  They are simply intended to entice new story ideas in the areas of agritourism, outdoor, culinary, cultural, history, heritage and more.

SuperCr! oc Opens at Sternberg Museum of Natural History:   At an impressive 40-feet long and 10 tons, the 110 million-year old SuperCroc is now on display at the Sternberg Museum of Natural History at Fort Hays State University in Hays, KS through August 5.  This is only the fourth location worldwide to host the entire exhibit, with previous displays in the Netherlands, Cincinnati and Chicago.  In addition to a life-size flesh reconstruction of SuperCroc, displays include an authentic expedition field tent, actual fossils, modern crocodile specimens and other evidence to reconstruct the biology, behavior and environment of this ancient monster.  For more information visit http://sternberg.fhsu.edu/exhibits/exhibits_temp.php.  

Smithsonian Exhibit Visits Eisenhower Presidential Library and Museum:  A Smithsonian Institution exhibition that explores 200 years of White House traditions opened March 13 at the! Eisenhower Presidential Library and Museum in Abilene.  "The Working White House: 200 Years of Tradition and Memories," an artifact-based traveling exhibition, will be on display through May 9 in the temporary gallery of the museum.  Visitors will take a walk behind the scenes at the White House. They will be guided by the maids, cooks, butlers and doormen who kept the White House running efficiently during 200 years of service.  For more information visit www.eisenhower.archives.gov.  

2010 Wichita River Festival – Something for Everyone:  From May 7 – May 15, 2010, families will enjoy a variety of participatory and spectator events at the 2010 Wichita River Festival, one of Kansas’ largest celebrations.  Festivities kick-off with opening night fireworks and a concert with Bret Michaels Roses and Thorns World Tour, and ends with Tchaikovsky's 1812 Overture performed by the Wichita Symphony Orchestra and the Kansas Army National Guard and carillon bell! s.  In between, attendees will enjoy additional concerts, parades, hot air balloons, a Cajun food fest, open air markets, ice cream socials and more.  For more information visit www.gowichita.com.
