CD of some of China's most interesting electronic musicians

The Opposite House Releases Oppositehouse Vol 2 Soundtrack on CD

(Beijing, March 31, 2010) - Following the well-received Oppositehouse Vol 1, The Opposite House will release Oppositehouse Vol 2, a second CD of 10 eclectic tracks by some of China's most interesting electronic musicians. Like the first, this second limited edition album is specially created for guests to enjoy in-house or to take away as a gift and is not for sale.

The 10 artists featured in this album have very diverse musical backgrounds, from Zen, who sang at the Beijing Olympics opening ceremony, to B6, China's prolific independent electronic musician, to Supermarket, China's veteran electro-band. The bold and innovative tracks embrace the new and old wave. This second album provides an insightful perspective of the music scene in China in the 21st century, peppered with electro-pop.

Featured tracks include "Yuan Lai" by Supermarket who shared the stage with Portishead in the Transmusic Festival in France 2003 and "4 s" by M*d*P*h*N, a hybrid hip hop track with music created by machines.

The "Diving" lithograph on the album cover art by master printmaker and celebrated painter, Sun Xinping sets the mood and tone of the tracks. Sun is represented by Red Gate Gallery, Beijing and is currently deputy head of department of the Central Academy of Fine Arts, Beijing.

General manager Anthony Ross says, "This second album has a different personality to the first, a little more electronic, but still showcasing an exciting group of young Chinese musicians. We are thrilled with the outcome and appreciate the contribution of the artists."

"I love putting together The Opposite House CDs because they present a great opportunity to showcase some of the Chinese bands, singers and producers who are making music that doesn't get much exposure in a local market still dominated by mainstream formulaic pop. For Oppositehouse Vol 2, we have chosen an eclectic selection of music that is melodic, inventive, expressive, representing the diversity of independent artists roughly classified in the 'electronic' music genre," says producer Caralinda Booth on her selection for the second album.
