THE KAHALA HOTEL & RESORT UNVEILS SIGNATURE SUITE COLLECTION
HONOLULU, HI (April 15, 2010) - The Kahala Hotel & Resort introduces a new signature suite collection for the world's most eminent travelers and their entourage. These four suites set The Kahala apart and represent The Kahala's enduring commitment to singular guest experiences.
The two 2,200-sq.ft. Imperial and Presidential Suites both have lanais with tower vistas from Diamond Head to Koko Head, yet they diverge from there in design and feel. The other two signature suites, the Kahala Kai Suite and Kahala Beach Suite, are located right on the beach and are perfect for a private family getaway or guests seeking down-to-earth elegance.
"We renamed the Presidential Suite the Imperial Suite," explains general manager Thomas Pauly, "to honor the recent stay of the Emperor and Empress of Japan." Details include 100% silk rugs at $20,000 apiece, custom parquet floors of Big Island koa and ohia, and backlit golden onyx countertops. A dramatic mixed-media mural of hand painted silk and vivid embroidery adorns the pocket doors enclosing the living room. The mural, designed by artist Duff Paulsen, was inspired by the Bishop Museum's collection of 1920s era depictions of old Hawaii and implemented by London-based Frometal, makers of some of the world's most alluring custom wall-coverings.
Nobody stays in the Imperial Suite to watch TV, but when they do they want a superlative experience. The living room LCD TV has a Blu-ray disc player and state-of-the-art ice cube-sized speakers, while the master bedroom's LCD TV rises from the foot of the bed. Like a James Bond movie, the entryway to the second bedroom is disguised as a functioning bookshelf. A luxuriously firm Duxiana "The Dux" futon mattress and subtly high-tech bathroom - the shower has loudspeakers and programmable wall- and ceiling-mounted digital showerheads by Kohler and the vanity mirror has an embedded flat screen TV that disappears when turned off - complement the luxurious offerings.
Meetings can be conducted in the Imperial Suite's own office/conference room complete with a wet bar built into the library wall and a conference table for eight.
Presidential Suite
Sharing the Imperial Suite's magnificent ocean view is the Presidential Suite, favored by guests for its residential grand beach estate feel. With furnishings from the Ralph Lauren Polo Collection, the two-bedroom space features dark woods, clean white details and a demure color scheme. Special touches make it a Kahala Signature Suite: rainforest leaf patterned Nepalese pile carpet, a set of original-bound Winston Churchill volumes, seashell-inspired glass ornaments, fully stocked bar with top-shelf liquor, and a library of photographs and books on the Hawaiian Islands.
Not to be outdone by its sister suite, the Presidential Suite boasts a 50" flat screen LCD and two 40" LCD TVs. The whole suite is rigged for sound with PS3 games, Sony Dream Machine with iPod dock, wireless printer and more. There's also a wine and wet bar, living room, game room and Sealy Stearns & Foster pillow-top four poster beds.
Kahala Beach Suite
At ground level and steps from the beach, the elegant and contemporary one-bedroom Kahala Beach Suite features furniture from the Nicole Miller Collection and an outdoor dining area and barbeque grill snazzy enough for entertaining up to 50 guests on the lawn. The sleek slate wraparound patio has a covered cabana and cushioned chaise lounges.
Kahala Kai Suite
The second-level Kahala Kai Suite has a cozy beach cottage feeling with furniture from the Ralph Lauren Polo Collection and three lanais overlooking the beach, Koko Head lawn and Waialae Country Club. The suite possesses a light, airy space with smooth, deep chocolate-brown wood and soft silk rugs, and is adorned with natural greenery and island artifacts.
The Kahala Kai and Kahala Beach Suites are located at the Koko Head side of the resort and are favored by those who prefer privacy. Both newly refreshed suites are 1,250-square feet, have 40" flat screen home theaters, mini fridge and espresso machine, wet bar and Sealy Stearns & Foster pillow-top four poster beds. Accents include Brazilian Walnut flooring and rain showerheads.
All Signature Suites feature the custom line of Purple Water bath amenities by notable luxury good purveyor Asprey of London. Each Signature Suite also has a half-bath powder room for visitors.
The Suite Amenities Program is complementary, yet intrinsic to the Signature Suite experience. Each morning, suite guests get coffee, tea and newspapers at their door. Every afternoon a special pupu is delivered with choice of drink. Also included are the award-winning Kahala Spa for complimentary treatments, private limousine transports, lei greeting, welcome amenity, daily breakfast buffet at Plumeria Beach House, reserved beach cabana, kayaks, snorkel gear, stand up paddle board, laundry services throughout stay (up to $100 per day), packing services and personalized stationery.
