Each year, the soft sand beaches of Acapulco become home to thousands of sea turtles as they arrive from great distances to lay their eggs. Travelers can take part in a number of compassionate programs beginning in July, which aim to protect the endangered Golfina Sea Turtles and their eggs. Once hatched, thousands of baby turtles will begin their journey to the sea to begin the cycle once again.

Hotels such as the Fairmont Acapulco PrincessFairmont Pierre Marques and the Mayan Palace Acapulco have developed "turtle camps" where guests can learn about the importance of the sea turtles and in some cases, can 'adopt' a baby sea turtle before gently releasing it into the ocean.

Those who participate in the Fairmont Acapulco Princess' turtle release program may also be interested to learn that the hotel offers a special package for guests staying at the property on a Monday or Tuesday night. The Day of Week Discount, which is valid year-round, includes accommodations for a family of four who will receive 12% off their stay on a Monday or Tuesday night.
