VisitDenmark Launches New Social Media Tourism Campaign:

Virtual adventures on YouTube, Facebook and Twitter plus a fabulous sweepstakes

OcTOBER 19, 2010 (New YorkNY) -- VisitDenmark’s new social media tourism campaign makes consumers part of the story as they follow the interactive adventures of Ann and Bill, a virtual couple on a “city break” trip to Copenhagen. The campaign launched September 23 with the first of four Ann and Bill viral movies released on YouTube. It continues with Twitter tweets and Facebook status updates from Ann and Bill, and will end with a sweepstakes drawing for a trip for two to Copenhagen in the “Happiest Country in the World” conducted on Ann and Bill’s very own Facebook page.

Designed to build awareness of Copenhagen as a “city break” destination—ideal for two- to three-day visits—the campaign is aimed at U.S. travelers, providing a fun and funny introduction to the city’s sites through the characters of Ann and Bill, an animated American couple connecting with friends back home via YouTube, Facebook and Twitter, just as real American travelers do.

Facebook http://www.facebook.com/apps/application.php?id=127541253960434#!/apps/application.php?id=127541253960434&v=wall is the central platform for the campaign, linking to YouTube and Twitter, and to the VisitDenmark website and Facebook page. Updated daily, the page has kept fans aware of what Ann and Bill were seeing and doing during their travels toCopenhagen, as well as provides links to special deals for travelers ready to plan their own Copenhagen city breaks.

Ann and Bill’s Facebook friends can also visit their page to enter a sweepstakes to win a trip for two to Copenhagen on SAS, Scandinavian Airlines www.flysas.com/us including a three-night stay at the Copenhagen Admiral Hotel www.admiral-hotel-copenhagen.com and two Copenhagen Cards. To enter the contest, visitors must answer a question about Denmark. A response will indicate that the visitor “likes” Ann and Bill, thus spreading word of the campaign via Facebook News Feed to friends throughout the Facebook network. The Facebook page also links to Ann and Bill’s daily Twitter feed and the four Ann and Bill movies on YouTube.

feature an unusual twist—an interactive element that requires viewers to answer a question about Denmark for the movie to continue. After the launch of the first movie on September 23, the three additional movies were released on September 30, October 7 and October 14. Each film includes links to Ann and Bill’s Facebook page, VisitDenmark, Wonderful Copenhagen and SAS Scandinavian Airlines.

Regular Twitter “tweets” from Denmark http://twitter.com/annandbill kept Ann and Bill’s fans and friends updated on their travels. Where they were going. What they were seeing. Who they’ve met. By following Ann and Bill on Twitter, visitors can continue to keep up with the couple’s many activities following their city break and join an ongoing conversation of questions, answers and on-the-spot comments about Denmark’s lively capital.
