Historic Artifacts and Photos on Display For Public at The Omni William Penn Hotel

 

PITTSBURGH (November 16, 2010) – The Omni William Penn Hotel recently announced the completion of “Heritage Hall,” a series of newly constructed display cases that walk guests through the storied history of Pittsburgh’s Grande Dame.

Throughout the years, the hotel has collected and preserved numerous artifacts, many dating back to the hotel’s extravagant grand opening in 1916.  Some of the items include historic original photographs, bottles of Whiskey and Rye with the hotel logo dating back to 1911, and even an old cash machine that was used in the restaurants in the early days to count out correct change to customers. Each display is accompanied by a card describing the item, and the year in history that it represents.  The items will be changed out approximately every six months. 

“This is something that we have wanted to do for some time”, said Eric DeStefano, general manager of the hotel.  “The hotel has such a storied history and is a special place for so many people.  We are thrilled that we are able share these items, and enable guests to take a brief journey back in time”.

The Heritage Hall display is located off of the main lobby just across from the Spa at Nail Galleria, and is open and available to the public for viewing 24 hours a day.
