Liberty Mountain announces opening day

Winter arrives early this year for skiers and snowboarders

 

After a series of cold days and nights and an increase in snowmaking volume throughout the past week, Liberty Mountain will open for skiing and snowboarding this Friday morning, Dec. 10 at 9 a.m.

At this point, the resort anticipates opening with a minimum of seven trails with more terrain available as snowmaking operations allow. There will be terrain for everyone, from the beginner to the advanced skier or rider, as well as the popular West Side Terrain Park. Opening information for Boulder Ridge Snow Tubing has not yet been announced.

As a special to kick-off the start of the season, Liberty is offering some great deals through Dec. 23. For guests ages 8 and older interested in learning to ski or snowboard, the resort is offering a special $39 rate for the First Class Beginner Package. Regularly priced at $84, the all inclusive package includes a beginner area lift ticket, ski or snowboard rental equipment and a class lesson. For those with some previous slope experience, class lessons at all ability levels ages 8 and older are available for only $10 throughout the same time period.

Holiday House Tour slated for Saturday

Event features 10 historic inns in the Gettysburg area

 

The Inns of the Gettysburg Area and Adams County Winery announce the 14th Annual Holiday House Tour and Tasting to be held on Saturday, Dec. 11, from noon until 5 p.m.

Tour participants will be able to visit area inns decorated for the holidays, sample favorite recipes from the Inns of the Gettysburg Area Cookbook, taste locally produced wines from Adams County Winery, and know that their ticket money is all going to support the South Central Community Action Program, including the Homeless Shelter and the Emergency Food Pantry.

The Inns of the Gettysburg Area is an association of premier bed and breakfasts and inns within 10 miles of downtown Gettysburg. These inns are often in significant historic buildings and homes, renovated and decorated to please the most fastidious guest. 
Participating inns include The Barker House, Chestnut Hall, The Gaslight Inn, The Brafferton Inn, The James Gettys Hotel, The Dobbin House, Battlefield Bed & Breakfast, The Lightner Farmhouse, The Baladerry Inn, and The Inn at Herr Ridge. On the day of the tour, tickets may be purchased at any one of the participating inns.
