A CHILDREN'S WINTER WONDERLAND AT SWITZERLAND'S BEAU-RIVAGE PALACE
12-17-2010
New York - December 15, 2010: This winter at the Beau-Rivage Palace in Lausanne, while adults keep busy in the hotel's award-winning Cinq Mondes Spa or at the two-star Michelin restaurant Anne Sophie Pic at the Beau-Rivage Palace, children have a unique array of activities to choose from, including:
- Ice skating: For the first time since the hotel opened in 1861, the terrace overlooking Lake Geneva has been transformed into an ice rink. The rink is eco-friendly and synthetic, requiring no water or electricity for maintenance. It is open every day through January 31, with lessons available on December 24, 29 and 30.
- Pony rides: On Christmas Day, children will become knights-in-the-making, riding ponies in the Beau-Rivage Palace's 10-acre park.
- Visit from Santa: On December 24 and 25, Santa Claus will visit the hotel's restaurant and lobby...with gifts in tow, of course!
- Pastry lesson: On December 26 and 28, the Beau-Rivage Palace's head pastry chef will personally teach children (aged 6 and above) the art of pastry-making.
- Crepes, movies and a petting zoo: From December 22 to January 2, 2011, children are invited to indulge in crepes, waffles and chestnuts while watching their favorite movies in the hotel's Romain & Hermitage room. Next door, a petting zoo with rabbits, guinea pigs and more awaits.
- Face painting: On December 31, a make-up artist will transform children into lions, cats, butterflies and more.
The Beau-Rivage Palace is also offering special holiday rates from December 17, 2010 to January 10, 2011. Rates for a double room start at CHF440 (approximately US$454) and include a large breakfast buffet (or room service) and one mulled wine per guest. An additional discount is offered on the second room for children, with rates starting at CHF260 (approximately US$268).
