2010 SETS NEW ALL-TIME HIGH FOR TOURISM TO ISRAEL WITH 3.45 MILLION TRAVELERS
Approximately 3.45 million travelers arrived in Israel in 2010--a new all-time high, and a 14% increase compared to the previous record of 3 million, which was set in 2008. Also, 11.5 million passengers traveled through Tel Aviv's Ben Gurion International Airport last year--a 10% increase compared to 2009.
BON JOVI TO PERFORM IN TEL AVIV, APRIL 27
Grammy Award-winning rock and roll band Bon Jovi has announced its first-ever performance in Israel at Bloomfield Stadium in Tel Aviv-Jaffa, April 27. The concert follows performances by Ozzy Osbourne and Elton John in Tel Aviv last year.
WALDORF=ASTORIA TO OPEN SECOND ISRAEL PROPERTY IN TEL AVIV
The Waldorf=Astoria hotel brand has announced plans to open its second Israeli property in Tel Aviv near the city's Independence Park in 2013. The hotel follows the first Waldorf=Astoria in Israel, which is set to open in Jerusalem later this year.
EASYJET LAUNCHES BASEL TO TEL AVIV ROUTE
European low-fare airline EasyJet launched new service from Basel, Switzerland to Tel Aviv's Ben Gurion International Airport last month. EasyJet will operate flights to Tel Aviv from Basel, three times a week, departing on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays, in addition to their routes from London and Geneva.
