Wildlife
Our gamedrives at Olarro have produced some interesting wildlife sightings. These included a pride of sixteen lions spotted within the Olarro game drive area, numerous different elephant sightings, and a female cheetah with two one month old cubs on the plains of Ol Kinyei in front of Olarro.
Children at Olarro
The December issue of
Tatler magazine lists Olarro as "Best for Families". Children accompanying their parents have been having a great time at Olarro. Our Maasai guides took charge of them and led them through several adventures learning about Maasai culture and their unique way of life. They enjoyed hikes in the Loita Hills, learning about crucial bush survival techniques including how to light a fire using sticks and dried animal dung, identifying different animal spoor and how to track animals, make and shoot a bow and arrow as well as learning all about indigenous trees and shrubs such as the toothbrush tree, wet wipe tree, poison arrow tree, upset tummy shrub, antiseptic and disinfectant shrub and the chewing gum tree. They even experienced herding with the Maasai!
