"Borgo Santo Pietro opened in 2008 and the Easter Egg Hunt has been a tradition since the beginning," say Jeanette Thottrup who owns the hotel with her husband Claus. "Our guests, both young and old,  enjoy this festive outing which begins in the morning with an Easter egg hunt spread over 20 acres, leads guests to nearby historic sites and ends with a wonderful five-course Easter lunch back at the Borgo."

Located 35 minutes from Siena, 40 minutes from Volterra (made famous in the movieTwilight) and an hour from Florence, the Borgo Santo Pietro (hamlet) features eight rooms in the main house, three garden cottages, a Spa set in an 800-year-old bakery, an affinity pool, an outdoor cabana style bar and 13 acres of ornamental gardens sectioned into a flower, rose, fountain, lemon, vegetable and herb garden.

An enchanting world unto itself, guests who visit the Borgo can sign up for daily cooking classes, partake in wine tasting sessions with the hotel's sommelier, play Bocci Ball or hike or bike to historic sites.  Small wineries abound and guests can enjoy the quaint hilltop village of Chiusdino to add to their Tuscan adventure.

Originally built in 1229 to accommodate early pilgrims who were following the spice route to Jerusalem, Borgo Santo Pietro provided food and shelter for these early travelers.   The neighboring  church (Ecclesia di Santo Pietro) and San Galgano Abbey also attracted early travelers from near and far.
