TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (Jan. 3, 2008) – People interested in escaping the ice, snow and freezing temperatures this winter can plan their Florida getaway by using a web site offering features unlike any other destination in the tourism industry. VISIT FLORIDA®, the state’s official tourism marketing corporation, has radically enhanced its consumer web site, VISITFLORIDA.com, which now features rich media content, consumer comments, image and video sharing and more.

With the click of a mouse, users can discover everything the Sunshine State has to offer through interactive maps, articles, photos and videos. Instead of just reading about kite boarding in Fort Lauderdale, the Salvador Dali museum in St. Petersburg or outlet shopping in Orlando, potential visitors can watch videos of guests enjoying these and other experiences across the state, read blogs on the topic or review consumer feedback.

VISIT FLORIDA enlisted the help of 10 Florida experts to share their perspective on a variety of Florida experiences. Each expert specializes in a different area, including Arts and Culture, Boating and Fishing, Shopping and Nightlife, Beach and Surf, Family, Authentic Florida, Smart Travel, Golf and Outdoors. The experts, who live in Florida, host videos and write specialty blogs on VISITFLORIDA.com.

Florida is a diverse state with many unique regions and experiences, and our Florida experts help visitors find exactly what they’re looking for in a warm weather vacation,” said Bud Nocera, president and CEO of VISIT FLORIDA. “Regardless of where you are from or what your interests are, there is something for everyone in the Sunshine State.”

VISITFLORIDA.com gives guests the opportunity to interact with other travelers by posting their favorite vacation memories. Consumers can write about their adventures and share family photos or home videos. Visitors can gain invaluable advice from other tourists and use it to develop a customized itinerary with the new “My Trip Planner” part of the site. This section allows users to save information, photos, videos and maps in a special online folder that is easily accessible whenever they need it.
