Amelia Island Offers Deals, Meals for Popular Shrimp Festival

AMELIA ISLAND, Fla. (March 31, 2011) – The Annual Isle of Eight Flags Shrimp Festival (April 29 - May 1) brings thousands of visitors to historic downtown Fernandina Beach. Several Amelia Island accommodators are celebrating the Shrimp Festival’s 48th year by offering special deals or activities. The popular Shrimp Festival offers something for the entire family, including a nationally-recognized juried fine arts and crafts show, antiques, live entertainment, kids activities, contests, pirates and 25 food booths serving up the tastiest shrimp you can find, prepared every way possible by local non-profit organizations.

The following accommodations are offering special deals or meals for visitors during this year’s Shrimp Festival:

Amelia Hotel at the Beach is offering a special promotional rate for a Standard Room, including a Hot & Healthy Breakfast, for only $149 per night for up to two adults. Guests must ask for rate code SFPR when calling to book reservations. A two-night minimum stay is required. Accommodations are subject to availability and cannot be combined with any other discounts or specials. Call (877) 263-5428 to make reservations.

The Amelia Hampton Inn at the Beach is offering a Shrimp Festival Special. Guests who stay a minimum of two nights will receive a third night free. Rooms start at $190 per night. Call (904) 321-1111 today to make reservations and mention rate code SHP.

The Hoyt House will be offering a Shrimp Fest Buffet on Friday, April 29, Saturday, April 30 and Sunday, May 1 from 6 to 9 p.m. The buffet will feature shrimp and crab bisque soup, shrimp with penne vodka sauce, linguine and shrimp scampi, shrimp and grits, garden salad, red mashed potatoes, French green beans and fresh key lime pie. The cost is $39.50 per person. A full bar and drink specials will be available. Reservations will be required for outside guests. To make reservations, call (800) 432-2085.
