Mount Airy's 2nd Annual Budbreak Wine Festival is April 30
MOUNT AIRY, N.C. - Main Street in downtown Mount Airy provides an ideal setting for the second annual Budbreak Wine Festival on Saturday, April 30.
This spring festival celebrates the emerging buds on grapevines throughout the Yadkin Valley. A total of 15 wineries will participate in this year's event, providing wine
tastings and education about North Carolina's burgeoning wine industry.
Live music, food vendors and local artisans add to the festivities, hosted by popular news anchor Kimberly Van Scoy of WXII-TV in Winston-Salem.
Headlining the entertainment is The Attractions Band of Burlington, a seven-member beach band inducted into the Carolina Beach Music Hall of Fame in 2009.
Also performing is a local band, Mediocre Bad Guys. MBG plays classic hits from the 1970s, '80s and '90s, and will be joined by long-time Rolling Stones saxophonist
Bobby Keys.
Rounding out the entertainment is noted Motown jazz singer Diana Tuffin.
Hours for the festival, co-sponsored by the Mount Airy Rotary Club and Downtown Business Association, are noon to 6 p.m. Tickets are $15 in advance and $20 at the gate, with all proceeds benefitting Rotary charities.
There's also a wine judging competition the evening before at Old North State Winery in downtown Mount Airy.
