AdventureUs.com Links Like-Minded Adventurers with Online Forums, Professional Research and Vetted Travel Providers

New York City, NY, January 7, 2007 – Finding, planning and sharing an adventure anywhere in the world is as easy as planning a weekend get-away using AdventureUs.com, a new, social networking website for adventure travelers. Launched at the Adventures in Travel Expo, held in New York City at Pier 94 on January 12 and 13, 2008, AdventureUs.com allows adventurers to share plans, pictures, experiences, questions and answers in easy-to-navigate online forums. Extensive arrays of reputable travel providers are a click away, in a handy, home-page directory.

At AdventureUs.com, would-be adventurers learn from those who have navigated the waters and terrains of exotic lands, uncharted wilderness and cultural divides. They also have the benefit of reading the works of professional travel writers, linked through feature articles. It is the gathering of all these elements—community forums, travel providers and professional features—under one adventure-focused web address, which sets AdventureUs.com apart from other travel websites.

“Adventure travel is about passion, and we reflect that,” said David Larkin, founder and managing director of AdventureUs.com. “Our site allows travel consumers to share their passion

for adventure and enables them to more fully research prospective trips and outfitters than they’d be able to do elsewhere. In adventure travel, doing your research and finding the optimal travel outfitter for your particular needs and expectations can make all the difference.”  From the first click onto the home page, adventure travelers are drawn to the visual feast of photos depicting journeys to all corners of the earth. Those who know their desired destination can immediately gather information in one of three ways: through the travel provider directory; by clicking through the world map; or by using the helpful search function. For in-depth reporting, the home page features a selection of professional adventure travel articles from noted publications such as National Geographic Adventure, Chicago Tribune and the Los Angeles Times.

Each individual user can start an AdventureUs.com account, tracking interests and building trip portfolios. Navigation buttons at the top of the website allow users to click through to group forums, listed by interests and activities, maps, travel providers, travel videos, associations and wish lists. The wish list function connects travelers desiring adventures to the same destinations to connect and share information and plans.

“As voluntourism and AdventureUs.com grow, we hope that users will journal their experiences with non-profits,” said Larkin. Under “Non-Profits We Like,” the homepage currently links to Trickle Up, an innovative group that helps the poorest people start businesses through micro grants and business training. Other future plans include celebrity blogs of adventure travel.
