Great Lakes Seaway Trail

06-27-2011

July 2nd Look for Great Lakes Seaway Trail GeoTrail at GeoWoodstock

Sackets Harbor, NY -  Warren, Pennsylvania is just 63 miles from Erie, Pennsylvania; Lake Erie; and the Great Lakes Seaway Trail. The Trail is a 518-mile, two-state National Scenic Byway that is also a hot new geocaching adventure route.

Great Lakes Seaway Trail GeoTrail organizers will be at GeoWoodstock in Warren on July 2nd  inviting those who enjoy exploring natural and urban landscapes with handheld GPS units to come find 75 caches hidden along Lake Erie, the Niagara River, Lake Ontario and the St. Lawrence River.

The Great Lakes Seaway Trail GeoTrail debuted last August with great excitement and proved so successful that a new supply of Great Lakes Seaway Trail GeoTrail logbooks and GeoCoins are available for cachers in 2011.

When at least five caches are found in each of five regions of the byway and logbooks are validated at GeoTrail host sites, cachers can collect up to five elegant Great Lakes Seaway Trail GeoCoins featuring different iconic attractions on the byway.

“Participants seem to love the GeoCoins. They are a well-earned reward and souvenir for this fun and exciting adventure,” says Great Lakes Seaway Trail Director of Business Relations Kurt Schumacher.

The GeoCoins feature the Flagship Niagara, Niagara Falls and the Maid of the Mist, Charlotte-Genesee Lighthouse, historic Fort Ontario, and the St. Lawrence Seaway.
