Waikiki Beach Walk® Shares the “Pu’ukani” of Hawaii with Second Music CD

08-25-2011

Pu’ukani is the second volume of the Na Mele Aloha ‘Aina Collection,  offered for free to visitors at Waikiki Beach Walk

HONOLULU, OAHU, HAWAII — Outrigger Enterprises Group’s Waikiki Beach Walk is delighted to share “Pu’ukani, Sweet Music of Hawaii,” the second volume of the Na Mele Aloha ‘Aina Collection. The second CD album is a 5-song collection blending a mix of contemporary and traditional island music that appeals to both locals and visitors, and best of all it is offered to patrons of Waikiki Beach Walk for free!

The CD is available at all retail shops located on the second level of Waikiki Beach Walk (226 Lewers Street), and is being offered as a premium item in conjunction with a coupon offer in the visitor publication "The Best of Oahu." Booklets are available in all Outrigger and OHANA hotel lobbies, as well as throughout Waikiki in visitor publication stands. To receive a free CD, simply tear out the coupon from the Best of Oahu booklet and bring it to any second floor retail shops for redemption (one CD per person).

The CD features a combination of musical talents who are all island locals. Duo Kamanawa (Kalei Kahelewai and Blaine Kia) offer up a classic hapa-haole song, “Sweet Someone,” a song they both grew up with from “small-kid-time.” “Makalapua,” sung by Marlene Sai, and “Aloha `Oe,” sung by Hema Pa`a, a “strong left handed” Hawaiian duo, are two traditional songs that were beautifully written by Hawaii’s beloved Queen Lili`uokalani. Brian Tolentino and Greg Sardinha’s instrumental track, “Beyond the Reef,” will take listeners on a journey deep into the Pacific.

To celebrate the CD’s release, and in conjunction with this year’s Aloha Festival’s Waikiki Ho’olaule’a,, the public is invited to Waikiki Beach Walk’s Plaza Stage where some of the artists from the CD will be performing at a FREE concert on Saturday, September 17, 2011, from 7:00 p.m. to 9:45 p.m.

“We’re so pleased with the second Na Mele Aloha `Aina CD,” said Barbara Campbell, vice president of retail leasing for Outrigger Enterprises Group. “Producer Blaine Kia has done it again, pulling together a CD of soothing vocals and lighthearted island melodies that allow listeners to envision the past and the present of our beautiful islands as they relax to all of the songs from this collection.”

Concert-goers can park with ease at Waikiki Beach Walk with up to four hours of valet parking available for $6.00 at the Embassy Suites-Waikiki Beach Walk (201 Beachwalk) and the Wyndham Vacation Ownership-Waikiki Beach Walk (227 Lewers Street) with any same-day purchase from any Waikiki Beach Walk merchant. For more information, contact the Waikiki Beach Walk’s management office at (808) 931-3591.
