September’s arrival brings crisp mornings, shorter days and back to school plans traditionally signifying the end of summer.  However, in true Whistler spirit, the summer vibe is hanging on just a bit longer.  With activities such as outdoor concerts, unique dinner events, movie premiers and endurance races to choose from, it’s a perfect opportunity to make the most of summer’s end.

WHAT’S NEW

Whistler Presents concert series – September 9-10
Every weekend throughout August, the Whistler Presents concert series drew crowds into Whistler Olympic Plaza. Friday, September 9 plays host to Kuba Oms and B4-40 on September 10 wrapping the series for the summer.  These exciting outdoor concerts are a part of a variety of free entertainment, including performances by local and regional musicians and Whistler Street Entertainment.

Jazz on the Mountain at Whistler – September 2-4
Whistler plays host to Canada’s newest jazz festival on Labour Day weekend, September 2 to 4, throughout its lively pedestrian village. A combination of top international and Canadian jazz artists performing in a picturesque, intimate and highly interactive setting, Jazz on the Mountain at Whistler offers over thirty free and ticketed shows. Entertainment for everyone, the festival is the perfect complement to Whistler’s end-of-summer vibe.

Mountaintop BBQ Series – September 2-4
Labour Day weekend marks the last summer weekend to dine at 6,070 feet at Whistler’s Roundhouse Lodge. Mouthwatering BBQ chicken and pork, fresh corn on the cob, oven baked biscuits, and select desserts. Upload via the Whistler Village Gondola; open until 8 p.m. on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

Winemaker Dinner with See Ya Later Ranch – September 3
Introducing the Winemaker Dinners at the Roundhouse Lodge atop Whistler Mountain, featuring British Columbia's best wines paired with locally-sourced culinary delights. The evening includes a four-course dinner paired with wine – guaranteed to be a feast for the senses.

XTERRA Canadian Open Duathlon & Canadian Open Trail Running Championships – September 4
XTERRA Canada invites athletes and teams who love to mountain bike and trail run to race the same course as the professional triathletes (without the swim). In conjunction with the Off Road Triathlon and Duathlon, XTERRA presents the Canadian Trail Running Championships. Top three in each five-year age group will be invited to race for Canada at the World XTERRA Trail Running Championships in Hawaii on December 4, 2011.
