A Cocktail with a Creepy Crawly Twist for Halloween and a New Orleans History
London, England (10/11/2011) -- To coincide with the celebration of Halloween, Artesian's award-winning head bartender and mixologist, Alex Kratena, has created a ghoulish twist on the classic Vieux Carre Cocktail originally created in 1938 by Walter Bergeron, head bartender at the renowned Monteleone Hotel, New Orleans. Served over a crystal clear ice ball, the Artesian's Vieux Carre is complimented by a unique side of toasted Colombian giant ants and Mopani worms. The finest cognac and rye whiskey has been aged with bespoke infused vermouth, bitters and herbal liqueur in a glass bottle for a period of two weeks with wooden stave charred and cut into, so the liquid is exposed to both types of wood. This results in an incredibly rich, full bodied, smooth and delicious libation. Artesian is the award-winning bar at the luxury Langham, London. With its name inspired by the 365 foot deep well under the hotel which originally supplied all the fresh water for guests, Artesian is an über chic watering hole for contemporary Londoners. David Collins' elegant yet striking interiors are described as "combining hints of exotic Orientalism with the romance of Victorian nostalgia and some stylish contemporary touches." The chic and romantic designs blend a sense of the past with a palpable sense of modern luxury. The Vieux Carre Cocktail is now available in Artesian and is priced at £16.50.
