Fall is here. There's no better time than autumn to come to the scenic countryside of Rappahannock County. Days get shorter, afternoon shadows grow longer and the setting sun paints the sky above the Blue Ridge Mountains in flaming colors of pink, purple and smoky blue. The leaves of the linden and beech trees turn yellow and the maple becomes a crimson red. Local vintners invite wine tasters to the vineyards to help gather the fall harvest of grapes. The artists of Rappahannock County open their private studios to visitors in the hills and hollows of the countryside. Intimate theaters begin their fall performing arts season. Elegant and rustic country inns and cottages offer warm hospitality. We invite you to indulge your senses in Rappahannock County during this family festive season and promise you the stuff of which memories are made! The Women of Trinity Episcopal Church will host the 54th annual House Tour and Dried Flower Sale on October 15-16 to raise money for their charities. A brick Civil War landmark, a 20th-century country home remodeled with a global outlook (the home of "National Geographic" editor Chris Johns and his wife, Elizabeth), and an 1827 home newly opened as an inn are the destinations on this year's tour. Maps of the tour may be picked up at Trinity Episcopal Church in Washington on the days of the tour. Tea will be served both days from 2-5 p.m. at the nearby Middleton Inn. Don't forget to check out the beautiful dried flower arrangements for sale in the Parish Hall!See the calendar for more information.
