Federal, State and Local Government Officials to Open New Road in Preparation for G20 Summit

Los Cabos, Mexico (March 5, 2012) - In preparation for the upcoming G20 Summit taking place in Los Cabos June 15-22, 2012, Mexico's President Felipe Calderón and government officials from the State of Baja California Sur recently inagurated a new four lane highway stretching from Cabo San Lucas to the capital city of La Paz. Previously a two lane highway, the new road is the result of a $250 milliondollar investment by the Federal Government in preparation for the arrival of the world's leaders and heads of state later this year and will ultimately benefit the tourism industry by cutting travel time in half between Los Cabos proper and other destinations such as Todos Santos and La Paz.

"We are thrilled to welcome this new road between Los Cabos and La Paz," said Alberto Coppola, President of the Los Cabos Convention & Visitors Bureau. "What was formerlly a two and a half hour drive to the capital city of La Paz, is now accessible in an hour from downtown Cabo San Lucas. This opens up new tourism opportunities for both destinations as well as the "magic town" of Todos Santos, which will now only be a short 30 minute drive from Cabo."

With the new road allowing for a shorter driving time between Cabo San Lucas and Todos Santos, travelers can take advantage of day trips to the charming desert oasis, home to two of the destination's most renowned boutique hotels; the legendary Hotel California and the new Guaycura Hotel & Spa which offers a stunning combination of history and modern luxury. Todos Santos itself is a haven for local artisans and chefs, bringing with them a seemingly endless array of colorful art galleries and fastastic culinary experiences.

The new road is approximately 152 km in length, consists of 26 bridges in total and is within the final phases of completion.

Los Cabos, located at the tip of the 1,000-mile long Baja Peninsula, is home to award-winning hotels and resorts, championship golf courses, rejuvenating spas, world-class sport fishing and much more. With a unique landscape of dramatic desert and white sand beaches, Los Cabos is an exotic escape within easy reach of most U.S. and Canadian cities.
