London's Roux at The Landau Features a Menu Marked by Dishes with a 'Royal Pedigree' to Celebrate the Queen's Diamond Jubilee

London, England (4/3/2012) -- A special menu containing dishes fit for a Queen will reign at London's Roux at The Landau , located in The Langham, London, during the city's celebration of Queen Elizabeth's II's Diamond Jubilee taking place in early June.   From May 28 to June 9, Executive Chef Chris King will present a daily offering of dishes with a royal connection.  With input from father and son Albert and Michel Roux Jr who are working together with The Langham, London, the partnership brings the Roux's legendary culinary expertise and creativity to Roux at The Landau.

Cotswold Legbar Hen's Egg à la Reine

Marked on the menu with a crown and offered on the daily lunch and pre-theatre menu, the dishes, which celebrate royal British heritage, are modern interpretations of some classic dishes.  In 1952, the year of Queen Elizabeth's coronation, Albert Roux moved to London from France and worked as an apprentice at Cliveden.  At the time, Roux frequently served soft Cotswold Legbar Hen's Egg à la Reine.  Roux, who later was awarded a Michelin three-star along with his brother Michel at Le Gavroche, recalls the dish as one of his most extravagant featuring indulgent ingredients. Sporting the title as à la Reine, meaning to the Queen, the dish is a chicken foie gras combination.
