Pure Luxury with the Spirit of the Bush in Zambia’s Lower Zambezi Park

LOWER ZAMBEZI, ZAMIA (01/08) – Chongwe River Camp in the Lower Zambezi National Park, Zambia, has opened the Albida Suite, a luxurious two bedroom suite on one of the finest sites on the mighty Zambezi River.  The bedrooms share a lounge and dining area appointed with comfortable, cushy chairs and sofas and accented with fine antiques.  A private pool is set at the edge of the River, perfect for relaxing while viewing the confluence of the Zimbezi with the Chongwe River and the escarpment to the north.

Designed by the innovative architect Neil Rocher, the suite offers pure luxury but still retains the spirit of the bush.  The bedrooms are custom-designed octagonal tents with organic ferro walling interspersed with natural wood.   Gauze windows, which may be rolled up during the day, are on seven sides of both tents, surrounded by pathways and gardens.   The bathrooms have a canvas roof but are open to the bush (though totally private) with a bath, double basins and double shower.  One shower is open air.

The Albida Suite is ideal for families or friends traveling together.  Meals and drinks may be taken in the suite or in the main camp.  In the event that children are traveling with their parents, the suites are spacious enough for an additional single bed.

At Chongwe, highly knowledgeable and professional guides provide as exhilarating, safe and informative African experience. Huge population of elephants, lion, leopard, and over 250 species of bird life, make game viewing in this area of Zambia exceptional. Guests have a choice of day and night game drives in open safari vehicles, guided walking tours, canoeing or motor boats to view wildlife along the banks of the river.  Fishing is also an option, especially Tiger Fish angling.  And with no fences at Chongwe, there are no barriers for an extraordinary safari.

The rates at Chongwe River Camp are $700 per person per night based on double occupancy (maximum of four guests).  Single supplement is $900 per night.  Additional adult or child is $350 per night.  Included in the rates are: accommodation, meals, all game viewing, laundry, bar, National Park fees, and a private guide.   For more information or reservations, e-mail faith@iconnect.zm.  The web site is www.chongwe.com
