Cheap Summer Trips that fit all Budgets

SYRACUSE, NY (May 17, 2012) ---Summer Means travel, and New York State has its usual travel hotspots.  With the help of BTI Travel (www.btitravel.com), a premiere leisure and business travel consultant, we have compiled a list of less traveled vacation spots that fit well in all budget.

With air fare on the rise and the U.S. economy struggling to correct itself, we looked for vacation destinations that were centrally located and could be reached by car.  Our criteria for selecting locations, included atmosphere, shopping, dining and entertainment, and all four locations met these measures handsomely.

Lake Placid, NY:

Lake Place, the little hamlet nestled in Adirondack’s High Peaks Region, is famous for hosting the 1932 and ‘80 Olympics.  From its fame, they took the torch (hypothetically) and ran with it.  The town has grown, and feels more populated then its posted 3,000 residents.   Among its 5-star resorts and restaurants, it still offers a small town feel.  The low-key, secluded atmosphere has made it a popular destination for celebrities.

The small town’s location offers beautiful views of Whiteface, Mirror Lake and many other Adirondack mountains.  The Charming main street is tucked up against the lake, and is filled with eclectic shops and dining choices.  It offers a variety of lodging options, including Lake Placid Lodge, a 5-Star Great Camp and a Holiday Inn that offering breath taking views.

Lake Placid is an outdoors paradise.  It offers 2,000 miles of designated Lake Placid hiking trails, including Mount Marcy towering 5,343 feet above sea level.  For adventure seekers, it offers Olympic-style attractions, including a run in a bobsled.

Montauk, NY:

Montauk, the eastern-most point of New York State’s Long Island, is a quaint beach town overlooking the Atlantic Ocean.  Its location and untouched beauty offer visitors uncorrupt, spectacular views.  The town's 17 square miles, roughly 40 percent is state or county parkland, which can't be developed.

The peninsula town of Montauk, nestled between three state parks and miles of pristine beaches, allows visitors to enjoy shopping, dining and entertainment without losing the natural beauty of its shores and parks. The town provides and mishmash of locally owned stores and restaurants.  A stroll along its main street reveals one-of-a-kind shops, boutiques, name brands and restaurants serving fresh  seafood caught that day.

The town has experience a growth due to increase in tourism, but hasn’t strayed too far from its origins, the sea.  Its humble beginnings were in the fishing industry, and it still remains the “sport fishing capital of the world.”  Offering world-class marinas, including one voted “top 10 destination marinas in North America and Caribbean Islands.”

Geneva is centrally located in New York State, and is in the heart of the state’s wine making region.  It sits at the tip of Seneca Lake, and offers splendid views of the surrounded lake area.  Known for its romantic weekends, the town can be described in three words: water ways, wines and a charming village.

Hundreds of shops, restaurants, and services line these historic streets, marked by a collection of diverse architecture that will capture your imagination.

The region is comprised of four distinct wine trails serving gallons of award-winning wines from over 100 wineries.  Geneva also offers a community dedicated to visual and performing arts.   The Smith Opera House, the premiere performance hall, offers hundreds of shows each year ranging from live performances by national acts to locally produced independent films.
