Travel Guide for Maryland Now Available
BALTIMORE (June 5, 2012) –The Maryland Office of Tourism Development released its latest edition of Destination Maryland: The Official Guide to Maryland State Travel. This free travel magazine highlights Maryland annual events and itineraries, in addition to listings for more than 2,000 attractions and destinations, state and national parks, lodging, and tour and travel services.
Destination Maryland is designed to inform visitors of what Maryland has to offer throughout the year. Some of these features include family-friendly activities, sporting events and romantic getaways. Organized by region, the guide includes events, historical sites, and attractions for visitors. Destination Maryland also has transportation tips, information for outdoor adventures and travel itineraries.
New this year is Maryland Milestones, a special section dedicated to the commemorations taking place from 2012 through 2014. These commemorations include the Civil War Sesquicentennial, Harriet Tubman Centennial and the War of 1812 Bicentennial. This section features events specific to each of the commemorations, plus, travel tips along Scenic Byways to engage and educate prospective visitors to select Maryland as their travel destination.

The Maryland Office of Tourism is an agency of the Division of Tourism, Film and the Arts within the Maryland Department of Business and Economic Development. Recently reported visitor data shows that the state welcomed more than 32.2 million visitors in 2010. Those visitors spent nearly $13.1 billion on travel-related expenses – generating close to $1.9 billion in state and local taxes and providing 130,000 jobs to Maryland residents.
