Rome and Positano: The Perfect Fall Vacation

Libertyville, IL, June 19, 2012—It’s a vacation you might dream about: eight days and seven nights luxuriating in two of Italy’s most beautiful, most romantic destinations.  TourCrafters has put together an exclusive, small-group Roman holiday followed by a sojourn in fabulous Positano, the sexy star of the  Amalfi Coast.  It’s a perfect vacation—or even honeymoon—in the fall, when the weather is warm and sunny and summer’s crowds have gone home.

The land-only Magnificent Rome and Positano tour, with weekly departures, costs $2,815 in September and $2,609 in October.  It includes three nights’ accommodation in Rome and four in Positano (in deluxe hotels), seven buffet breakfasts, a freeaperitivo, four dinners with wine, a walking tour of the Colosseum and ancient Rome, a visit to Pompeii with entrance fee, a private car tour of the Amalfi Coast with driver-guide, van transportation and the services of a tour host as per the itinerary.

Accommodations in Rome are in either the stylish Hotel Ponte Sisto, which is just across the Sisto Bridge from Trastevere, or the classic Empire Palace Hotel, which is also convenient for sightseeing.  Both hotels are 4-star  and  have courtyard gardens. While in Rome there’s an optional tour of the Vatican and plenty of free time for sightseeing, shopping on Via Condotti, enjoying a free aperitivo at Terrazza Caffarelli (which has a panoramic view of the city) and dining in atmospheric Roman trattorias.

Then if’s off to the Amalfi Coast, detouring to see the ruins of ancient Pompeii, and ending up in the photogenic resort of Positano, which clings to a terraced hillside  above the blue and tranquil Tyrrhenian Sea.. Accommodations are in the beyond-gorgeous, 4-star-superior  Covo dei Saraceni  Hotel, whose rooms, pool and terrace offer a spectacular view of Positano.  Here TourCrafters provides a tour along the famous coast road, through picturesque villages and lemon groves, past breathtaking cliffs and Saracen watchtowers, with dinner in a restaurant overlooking the sea.  Optional excursions—among them Capri, Naples and a cooking class—are also available.

TourCrafters has a similar small-group escorted tour to Rome and Sorrento that’s less expensive: $1,909 in September, $1,439 in October and November.

All prices quoted are per person, double occupancy, are subject to availability and do not include transatlantic air fare, transfers, porterage, city taxes (to be paid locally in euros) or tips.  For more information, visit www.tourcrafters.it and click “Deals of the Week.”  For reservations, call 800-482-5995.
