40TH ANNUAL SANTA-CALI-GON DAYS® FESTIVAL SET

  On Friday, August 31 through Monday, September 3, 2012, the Independence Chamber of Commerce will present the 40th annual Santa-Cali-Gon Days^® Festival on the historic Independence Square in Independence, MO.   The City of Independence, a long time community partner and the Missouri Lottery are major sponsors for this year’s festival.  

            Santa-Cali-Gon Days^® celebrates Independence as the starting point of the three trails, the Santa Fe, California and Oregon Trail that took pioneers to the West during the 1800s. 

            The festival is a free, fun, four day family event.  The festival features one of the midwest’s top arts and crafts shows, over 300 commercial vendors, and a carnival for kids of all ages.  In addition, the majority of food booths and parking lots are operated by not-for-profit organizations, who in turn use the money for their local projects and causes.  Free shuttle service will also be provided from satellite parking lots.

            The festival offers three stages for entertainment, including the Main Stage, Gospel Stage and the Children’s Mercy Hospitals and Clinics Community Stage.  This year’s feature entertainment on the Main Stage includes Lee Brice, known for hit singles “Love Like Crazy” and “A Woman Like You.  His current song “Hard to Love” is quickly moving up the charts.  The concert lineup also includes, Joe Diffie, Sunny Sweeney and Travis Marvin.
