Taj Campton Place Hosts Wine Tasting & Dinner July 31st

San Francisco, CA (July 12, 2012) - On Tuesday, July 31st Taj Campton Place will host winemaker Rob Davis from Jordan Vineyard & Winery, Alexander Valley as part of the hotel’s ongoing visiting winemaker dinner series. 

The evening starts at 7:00 pm in a Campton Place suite with a cool glass of wine. Rob Davis will lead the group through an interactive tasting seminar where he will discuss and demonstrate a rare opportunity to actually witness the blending of the grapes with different flavors from different areas that comprise the final component blending.  

The Sonoma winery, which is celebrating its 40th anniversary, has been dedicated to Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay and hospitality since its founding in 1972 by Tom and Sally Jordan, which continues today under the guidance of their son, John.

Rob Davis holds the distinction of serving as winemaker at a singular winery for 35 years, and worked with famed winemaker Andre Tchelistcheff to craft the inaugural vintage of Jordan Cabernet Sauvignon after graduating from University of California at Davis in 1976.

Dinner at the MICHELIN Guide–starred Campton Place Restaurant will follow the tasting seminar, featuring Executive Chef Srijith Gopinathan’s five-course dinner with wine pairings. Wine dinner attendees may opt to “take the elevator home” and spend the night at Taj Campton Place at a special rate starting at $199 a night (based on availability).
